Nestled in the heart of Laredo, Texas, Blas Castañeda Park offers a peaceful 6.9-acre retreat from city life. Situated along McPherson Road, this clean, well-maintained green space provides a great backdrop for those morning walks when you need a moment of tranquility before tackling the day.

Walking Paths & Landscape

Winding through lush greenery and beneath the shade of towering trees, the park's walking paths invite you to take a leisurely stroll or pick up the pace for a more energetic workout. The rubber track measuring 0.25 miles around the courts provides a softer surface for walking or jogging without the impact of concrete on your joints. If you're feeling a bit adventurous, you can even follow the creek that meanders through the grounds - just watch your step!

Recreational Facilities

Looking to shoot some hoops? The park's covered basketball court features plastic flooring that gives you good grip while you play. The spacious, well-maintained court is great for anything from casual games to more competitive matches.

For the little ones, there's a covered playground area with perimeter fencing that keeps the kids safely contained while they burn off energy. While the playground equipment is functional, it could admittedly use a few additions - swings would be a welcome upgrade!

Teens and skateboard enthusiasts will appreciate the skate park area with ramps that accommodates both skateboards and bikes. It's not huge, but it offers enough features to practice tricks and have some fun.

Dog parents, rejoice! Blas Castañeda Park is dog-friendly, allowing your four-legged friends to accompany you throughout the open areas. While there's no designated dog park, you'll come across a convenient station with plastic bags for cleaning up after your pet.

As for restrooms, there's a portable toilet available, however it's worth noting that many park-goers prefer to use the facilities at the adjacent recreation center during business hours. You can find the recreation center just across the creek from the main park area.
