Situated in McAllen, Texas, Airport Park spans a generous 10.2 acres of public green space. It's one of those quiet retreats where you can escape the hustle and bustle, meant for when you need a breath of fresh air or a laid-back family day out. The calm atmosphere here is what keeps locals coming back.

Recreation Spots

Kids will love the two playgrounds that offer plenty of climbing, sliding, and swinging adventures. If you're looking to get your steps in, the park's jogging and exercise trail meanders through the grounds, offering a scenic route for your workout.

Feeling sporty? The sand volleyball courts are waiting for your next game, while the baseball/softball fields complete with backstops are ready for an impromptu match. There's also tons of open green space for frisbee, catch, or whatever game you fancy.

Chill-Out Spaces

When it's time to refuel, you can find picnic tables dotted around the park, with a large covered pavilion right at the front that's great for gatherings of all sizes. For cookouts, there are barbecue grills available at many of the picnic spots.

You'll come across indoor restrooms as well as portable options within the park, and drinking fountains near the bathroom areas keep everyone hydrated. It's worth mentioning that the park is consistently clean and well-kept.

For the Fur Babies

Dog parents, rejoice! Airport Park includes a dedicated dog park area toward the back fence where your four-legged friends can run and play to their heart's content.

Fresh Upgrades

The park got some love in 2021 with the addition of new picnic tables, trash bins, and ADA-compliant tables connected by sidewalks, making the park more accessible for everyone.

Something Special

What really sets Airport Park apart is its neighbor - McAllen International Airport. You can watch planes approach for landing, flying low enough that you feel quite close to them. This aerial show is especially thrilling for the little ones.

Note that the park has limited lighting, so it's best to plan your visit earlier in the day if you intend to stay until dusk.
