Previously, the area was simply a grassy field owned by the local school district.
Development Timeline
In 2021, the McAllen City Commission approved an agreement with the school district to develop Morris Sensory Playground. The project has been planned in phases, with the first phase recently completed.
This initial development focused on installing a walking trail to complement the existing area.
Future Enhancements
Future plans for Morris Sensory Playground include the addition of various amenities to enhance its functionality and appeal to the community. The city of McAllen is working on constructing these features to create a more comprehensive recreational space for residents.
