Year-round, you can find these fields buzzing with youth leagues, softball tournaments, and friendly pickup games.

Want to cool off? The park's 50-meter Olympic-size outdoor swimming pool is excellent for beating the Texas heat. The pool is staffed with attentive lifeguards, making it a safe place for a refreshing dip. If you're looking to get some serious laps in, evening swim sessions start at 7:30 PM. You can even reserve the pool for special occasions like graduation celebrations.

Family-Friendly Amenities

There are two playground areas at Municipal Park where kids can play. The newer playground features modern equipment on a safe artificial turf surface that's meant for children up to 12 years old. For the little ones, there's a separate playground for younger children up to age 4. Both areas offer a variety of swings - two standard swings, an accessible swing, and a tandem swing - for children to enjoy.

When hunger strikes, you'll find picnic facilities with covered tables and grills scattered throughout the park. It's an ideal spot for family gatherings or a simple lunch outdoors. An added bonus? The park sits right by the McAllen Police Department headquarters, making it one of the safest places in town to enjoy some outdoor time.
