About the Location
Trail System
Comanche Trail West Park features a paved, multi-use trail stretching 1.1 miles one-way or 2.2 miles as a loop - great for your morning walk, a quick jog, or a leisurely bike ride. Starting at the west entrance at 900 S County Road W, you'll wind through a surprisingly wooded area that offers some much-appreciated shade - quite the rare treat in this part of Texas!
The path crosses Crane Avenue before eventually connecting with McKinney Park, ending near the south entrance at 301 Interstate 20 Service Road.
Recreational Features
Fancy a bit of fishing? The park's community fishing lake gets stocked periodically with rainbow trout and other species, making it a peaceful spot for anglers to cast a line. Right next to the lake, you'll come across an 18-hole disc golf course.
Established in 2013, this course blends nicely with the natural landscape. With its dirt tees and Mach III targets, it offers something for everyone - if you're just throwing your first disc or you're a seasoned pro.
Wildlife Observation
Bird watchers, take note! The park is a recognized eBird hotspot, where you can spot and document various bird species in their natural habitat.
Visitor Information
While the park offers great recreational spaces during the day, it's best to plan your visits during daylight hours. The area is known to have homeless encampments nearby, which might be a concern after dark.
