About the Location
Expansive Outdoor Space
Found in the heart of the city, Strawberry Park spreads across a generous 50 acres of well-kept grounds. This spacious green area has activities for everyone, whether you're looking to exercise or simply relax in nature.
The park's lush landscapes create a peaceful backdrop for your outdoor adventures. We particularly love the mile-long paved walking track that circles the park - mostly shaded by mature trees, it's excellent for your morning jog or a leisurely evening stroll without getting scorched by the Texas sun.
Strawberry Water Park
A major attraction here is the Strawberry Water Park. It includes water slides, a lazy river, and various pools for different activities. Kids especially love splashing around in the large shallow pool (about 3.5 feet deep), making it accessible for swimmers of various confidence levels.
You'll come across comfortable shaded seating throughout, and if you're planning a longer stay, you might want to treat yourself to one of the rentable cabanas. There's even a lap pool for those looking to get some serious swimming in. The attentive lifeguards keep a watchful eye on everything, which gives parents some well-deserved peace of mind.
Note that the water park does enforce capacity limits to keep things comfortable for everyone. This might mean a bit of a wait during those peak summer days, which helps maintain a less-crowded environment. Keep in mind that you can't bring outside food and drinks into the water park area, but there are concession stands where you can grab a bite. And don't worry about packing life jackets - they provide those free of charge for anyone who needs one.
Recreation Amenities
Beyond the water park, Strawberry Park offers many other recreational options. Tennis enthusiasts can rally on the courts, while basketball players can shoot some hoops nearby. The baseball and softball fields host everything from casual games to local leagues, and the sand volleyball court is well-suited for channeling your inner beach athlete.
Fitness buffs will appreciate the covered workout station with various exercise equipment positioned along the walking path. The park's open layout provides space to throw a frisbee, set up a badminton net, or find a quiet spot for yoga or meditation.
Families with kids gravitate toward the playground area, complete with slides, swings, and climbing equipment. The tree coverage helps keep the play structures from getting too hot during the summer months. When hunger strikes, you can find numerous picnic areas scattered around the grounds, many shaded by leafy trees, making them ideal spots for family meals or birthday celebrations.
Historical Elements
The park isn't just about recreation - it also honors local history through a touching memorial dedicated to Pasadena's war veterans. Standing proud since 1966, the iconic Strawberry Pavilion is a community gathering spot and occasionally hosts performances by the Pasadena Philharmonic, filling the park with beautiful music.
Facilities and Accessibility
Practical amenities haven't been overlooked here. You can find clean restrooms under the pavilion and near the tennis courts on the Strawberry Road side. Parking is plentiful throughout the area, so you won't have to circle endlessly looking for a spot.
Four-legged family members are welcome too, though you'll need to keep them leashed and clean up after them (as any good neighbor would). The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 11PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all it has to offer.
Strawberry Park is a well-designed space with diverse offerings for visitors of all ages and interests.
