Dewey Park

Park Overview

Dewey Park blends open sunny meadows with the cooling shade of mature trees across 22 acres of community greenspace in a residential pocket of Waco, Texas. It creates a natural escape that feels removed from city life despite being right in the heart of a residential area.

Play & Recreation Spots

One of the first things you'll notice is the 9-hole family disc golf course that meanders through the grounds. It's perfectly suitable for both first-timers wanting to try their hand at frisbee tossing and regular players looking for a casual round. No pressure, just fun.

If you're bringing along kids, the playground is a hit with the younger crowd, offering plenty of equipment for climbing, swinging, and general energy-burning. There's also a basketball court where you can shoot some hoops or jump into a pickup game with locals.

Chill-Out Spaces

Not looking to break a sweat? The park offers well-maintained picnic tables and a pavilion where you can spread out lunch or host a small gathering. These spots are particularly popular for birthday celebrations and family get-togethers - just arrive early on weekends if you're hoping to snag a table.

A paved walking path winds through the park, great for a leisurely stroll or a light jog. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome here too - the park is dog-friendly with plenty of open space for them to explore (just remember to bring bags for cleanup).

Summer Fun

When Texas heat hits, the park's splash pad becomes the place to be. You can find kids running through water sprays and parents appreciating this free cooling option on scorching days. There's also a grassy sports field that's open for impromptu soccer games, frisbee sessions, or whatever activity strikes your fancy.

Community Hub

The park sits right next to the Dewey Community Center, which hosts various programs and activities that complement the outdoor offerings of the park itself.
