About the Location
Urban Oasis Design
Fairbourne Station Promenade & Plaza is a 4-acre urban park located in the heart of West Valley City, Utah. The park was designed to serve as a central gathering space for the community and is part of the larger Fairbourne Station development project aimed at creating a downtown area for West Valley City.
The park features both paved areas and open green spaces to accommodate a variety of activities and events. A prominent feature is a water element that runs through the center of the promenade, creating a stream-like environment with large rocks that children can play on.
Interactive Features
The plaza portion of the park is designed for daily public use as well as special events. It includes a performance stage with water steps, providing a unique backdrop for performances and gatherings.
A large, distinctive shade structure offers protection from the sun, while specially designed lighting accentuates the park's features at night.
Historical Significance
One notable element of the park is an interactive scale, which pays homage to the site's history. It is located near the original location of a scale used by Joseph Fairbourne in the late 19th century for local farmers to weigh their produce en route to market.
This feature adds an educational and historical component to the park.
Strategic Location
The Fairbourne Station Promenade & Plaza is strategically located near other important city amenities, including City Hall, the police department, and public transportation hubs.
Its central location and multi-use design make it a key component of West Valley City's efforts to create a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly downtown area.
