About Ocean Lakes Park

A Day at the Park

Tucked away in Virginia Beach, Ocean Lakes Park is a green haven for locals and visitors alike. This community park has a bit of everything for everyone, whether you're into sports or just looking for a place to let the kids burn off some energy.

With its sprawling green spaces and well-kept athletic fields, you'll come across plenty of room for both organized team events and those impromptu family football games that somehow always end with dad pulling a muscle.

Batter Up!

If baseball's your thing, you're in luck. Ocean Lakes Park is something of a local legend for its baseball and softball fields, making it the go-to spot for little league action in the area.

With over 7 fields ranging from tee-ball size (perfect for the little ones just figuring out which end of the bat to hold) to high school dimensions, kids can literally grow up playing ball at the same park. It's pretty special to watch a neighborhood kid progress from wobbly tee-ball swings to crushing home runs on the big field.

The fields are well-maintained - no ankle-twisting divots or mysterious muddy patches to navigate around.

Beyond Baseball

Not into America's pastime? No problem. The park also features a versatile soccer/multi-purpose field alongside all those baseball diamonds.

These sports facilities host everything from school team practices to those weekend warrior leagues where office workers pretend they're still 19 years old (ice packs sold separately).

Kid-Friendly Zone

At the center of the park sits a playground area located near the little league fields - handy for parents trying to keep younger siblings entertained during big brother or sister's three-hour game.

The playground includes a transfer platform that makes the equipment more accessible to kids with different physical abilities.

Take a Break

There are two mini picnic shelters where you can escape the sun and enjoy a packed lunch or small gathering.

You'll come across restrooms conveniently located near the concession stands - always a crucial detail when spending the day outdoors, especially with kids in tow.

During sporting events, the concession stand sometimes opens up for business, offering the basics to hungry players and spectators. On busier days, food trucks might show up to expand your dining options beyond the standard hot dog and nachos fare.

Getting There

There's parking available, but you might want to arrive early on game days. When multiple teams are playing, the lots fill up faster than the concession stand line between innings.

The Fine Print

The City of Virginia Beach maintains the fields, facilities, and surroundings.

Located within a residential area, Ocean Lakes Park is a neighborhood spot where locals gather - whether to cheer on a team, take children to the playground, or simply enjoy some fresh air.
