The Great Lawn

The park's centerpiece is the "Great Lawn," a large, open grassy area encircled by a pedestrian path. This expansive meadow provides ample space for various activities such as picnicking, playing frisbee, or casual soccer games.

The walking path surrounding the lawn offers a pleasant route for strolls and light exercise.

Scenic Views

Surrey Downs Park features strategically placed berms and lookout points that provide scenic views. On clear days, visitors can enjoy vistas of Mount Rainier.

Rich History

Historically, the land where Surrey Downs Park now stands has seen various uses. A century ago, it was a filbert orchard. Some of the historic trees have been preserved on the site, with new filbert trees planted to fill in gaps, maintaining a connection to the area's past.

The property later served as an elementary school from 1962 to 1981 and subsequently as a courthouse until its transformation into a park.
