About the Location
Breathtaking Views
Perched in West Seattle, Belvedere Park splits into two charming sections flanking Admiral Way, each offering its own touch of Seattle magic. This viewpoint offers panoramas of Elliott Bay with downtown Seattle's skyline in the background.
On those gorgeously clear Seattle days (yes, they do exist!), you can gaze all the way to the Cascade Mountains and even spot majestic Mount Rainier in the distance. After sunset, the city lights transform the Seattle skyline into a glittering display that many find worth the trip.
A Touch of Heritage
Wander over to the eastern section and you can find yourself face-to-face with a striking 25-foot totem pole. Look closely and you'll see beautifully carved beavers, fish, and frogs telling their silent stories.
This isn't the original pole - that one was gifted to Seattle back in 1939 by the owner of Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. Today's totem was actually carved by Michael Halady, a descendant of Chief Sealth - the very person Seattle was named after. Pretty cool connection to the city's roots, right?
Perfect for Moments That Matter
It's no wonder this spot has become a favorite for photographers hunting for that perfect Seattle shot. You'll often spot couples posing for wedding photos or families capturing special moments with the iconic skyline framing their memories.
The park offers a quiet escape where you can simply sit back and take in the panoramic views of urban and natural beauty colliding. Bring a blanket and pack some snacks - the grassy areas make for ideal impromptu picnic spots.
Good to Know
Just a heads-up - you won't find playgrounds or restrooms here. If nature calls, the nearest public restrooms are at the Safeway grocery store further northwest on Admiral Way.
Keep in mind that the park borders a busy road with fast-moving traffic, so you'll want to keep your four-legged friends on a leash at all times. That said, the park's sloping landscape offers some nice spaces for a bit of running around and burning off energy.
