Tucked away on Madison's east side along Acewood Boulevard, you'll find Acewood Park, a charming neighborhood green space spanning 38.17 acres. This park strikes an excellent balance between woodlands and open areas, giving you room to both explore and relax.

One of the park's highlights is its peaceful pond, complemented by thoughtfully maintained prairie restoration areas where local plants and wildlife thrive. If you look closely at the pond, you'll notice it's filled with what appears to be wapato (also known as duck potato or arrowhead) - fascinating aquatic plants that once served as an important food source for indigenous peoples.

Recreation Options

Whether you're looking to burn some energy or just enjoy the outdoors, Acewood offers several options. Kids up to about 8-9 years old will enjoy the playground area with its newer equipment and fun climbing features. Basketball enthusiasts can shoot some hoops at the full-court basketball court - just remember to bring your own ball!

Need a moment to relax? The park offers picnic tables and a small shelter great for enjoying a packed lunch or simply sitting back to take in the natural surroundings. There's also a water bubbler available when you need to hydrate during your visit.
