Sherwood Forest Park

Where to Find This Intimate Park

Sherwood Forest Park is a cozy 1.41-acre neighborhood retreat in southwest Madison, Wisconsin, about 5 miles from the bustle of Capitol Square. This mini park (as officially classified by the City of Madison Parks Division) sits quietly along Friar Lane, offering a welcome patch of green among the surrounding homes.

What You Can Do Here

Despite its modest size, this park packs in several ways to enjoy the outdoors. There's a small basketball court where you can shoot some hoops or play a casual pickup game with neighbors.

If you're bringing little ones along, they'll appreciate the playground complete with swings and slides - fantastic for burning off energy and making new friends from around the block.

The park also features an open grassy area that's ideal for throwing a frisbee, having a picnic, or simply lounging with a good book on a sunny afternoon.

Fresh New Look

The park got a nice facelift in late 2024, when the City of Madison Parks Division renovated the playground equipment and spruced up the facilities. The updates have given this community space a refreshed feel while maintaining its neighborhood charm.

What Sherwood Forest Park lacks in size, it makes up for in convenience and function. It's exactly what it needs to be - a welcoming green space where nearby residents can take a break, let kids play, and connect with neighbors without having to venture far from home.
