About Oxmoor Park
A Breath of Fresh Air
Situated in Birmingham's urban sprawl, Oxmoor Park feels like a little secret waiting to be discovered. With the majestic Red Mountain creating a stunning backdrop, this green haven offers just the right balance of wilderness and community space.
The park sits comfortably in the Oxmoor Valley area, where a gentle stream with moving water adds a soothing soundtrack to your visit. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think - a rare find in the city.
Get Moving or Just Unwind
No matter if you're looking to break a sweat or simply need somewhere to sprawl out with a good book, Oxmoor offers plenty of options. The spacious open areas are meant for impromptu frisbee games, picnic blankets, or just cloud-watching on a lazy afternoon.
As part of Birmingham's Parks and Recreation system, this green space has become something of a haven for dog walkers. If you and your four-legged friend need somewhere to stretch your legs, you'll come across plenty of paths to explore (just remember to keep your pup leashed).
ADBirmingham Civil Rights Tour- Riding & Walking
On this three hour WALKING & DRIVING tour, you’ll travel around Birmingham to learn about the struggle for equal rights from the end of the Civil War up through the Civil Rights movement. Your tour will begin at the statue of Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, the leader of the local movement Civil Rights struggle.
What You'll Find
Packing a lunch? The park offers several picnic tables and a grilling area where you can cook up something tasty. While nothing fancy, these spots provide a perfectly functional setting for family gatherings or casual meet-ups with friends.
Kids can burn off energy at the playground, however some equipment might show signs of its age. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the tennis courts and basketball courts, even if they could use a little TLC.
Good to Know
You can visit during daylight hours, but note that gates close from dusk till dawn, so no midnight adventures here. The park keeps things simple - spacious grounds with basic amenities and plenty of room to roam.
One heads-up: there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before you visit. What Oxmoor lacks in fancy facilities, it makes up for with its tranquil atmosphere and room to breathe.
