About the Location
Unique Playground Features
Harmon Park features a unique and expansive playground that has become a popular destination for families in the area. The centerpiece of the playground is a 22-foot tall GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) treehouse, which is reported to be the tallest of its kind in the Southeastern United States.
This treehouse structure incorporates indigenous critters into its design, adding a local touch to the play area.
Diverse Play Equipment
One of the most notable features of Harmon Park is its custom-designed playground equipment. The park includes a variety of play structures such as nets, swings, and zip lines, providing diverse options for children of different ages and abilities.
The inclusion of a zip track, in particular, adds an element of excitement and adventure to the playground experience.
Revitalization Story
The park was rebuilt after being destroyed in the April 2011 tornado, and the new design incorporates modern playground features. This renovation has transformed Harmon Park into what some consider to be one of the coolest places to play in Tuscaloosa.
Community Space
Harmon Park is not just a playground; it also serves as a community gathering space. The park includes facilities that make it suitable for various outdoor activities and events.
