Rock Quarry County Park packs a lot into its 46 acres, anchored by the Edison Johnson Recreation Center, the Aquatics Center, and a Sprayground that's well-suited for hot Alabama summer days.

Between the recreation center and aquatics facility, there's a well-maintained playground where kids can burn off energy, plus several picnic tables and a grill area where you can enjoy a relaxed outdoor meal. A short walking trail connects these central areas to a large open field and tennis courts, making it easy to explore different parts of the park without trekking too far.

Things to Do

Throughout the year, Rock Quarry hosts various festivals and events. If you're into sports, you'll appreciate the athletic fields and tennis courts - many of which are illuminated for evening play when the Alabama heat subsides.

Note that as of March 2025, courts 5-8 were experiencing some lighting issues. The park staff is working on fixing this, but you might want to plan accordingly if you're hoping for an evening match.
