About the Location
A Fresh Start for a Neighborhood Spot
Kaulton Field has gotten a much-needed makeover as part of Tuscaloosa's commitment to creating better spaces for locals to enjoy. The City of Tuscaloosa celebrated these improvements with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in October 2024, marking a new chapter for this community space.
From Then to Now
This park has quite the history - it's been part of Tuscaloosa's park system since 1972. For over five decades, Kaulton Field remained pretty much the same until this recent renovation breathed new life into it.
What's New and Improved
If you're planning a visit, you'll find some welcome additions to the park. There's a brand new pavilion with restrooms - meant for family gatherings or just taking a break in the shade.
Kids will love the new playground that's been installed, offering a safe space for climbing, sliding, and all those important childhood adventures. The upgraded lighting system means you can extend your park time even as the day winds down.
You'll also notice enhanced security measures across the park, ensuring everyone can relax and enjoy their time here.
Roots in the Past
There's something special about this park's location. Kaulton Field sits in what was once the town of Kaulton, a lumber mill community founded back in 1912.
While the separate town has long since been folded into Tuscaloosa, the Kaulton name lives on through this neighborhood and its newly refreshed park - a nice connection to the area's rich history.
