About Apache Park
A Hidden Peoria Gem
Located in Peoria, Arizona, Apache Park offers a peaceful retreat for anyone looking to enjoy some outdoor time. This neighborhood park might not be massive, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm and thoughtful amenities.
The park's layout strikes a nice balance between open spaces and recreational facilities. A walking trail wraps around the perimeter - well-suited for when you need to clear your head with a leisurely walk or get in some light exercise without committing to a full gym session.
Playground Paradise
If you've got kids in tow, you're in luck. The park features two separate play zones designed with different age groups in mind. The larger structure is a hit with older children, boasting an impressive seven slides and a climbing wall that will keep them entertained for hours.
For the little ones, there's a smaller playground with age-appropriate equipment that's just their size. Both play areas benefit from good shade coverage, however be prepared with sunscreen if your kids gravitate toward the swings or obstacle course - these spots catch a bit more sun.
Sports Facilities
Sports enthusiasts won't be disappointed either. The park's four basketball courts come with lighting for those evening games when the Arizona heat finally gives you a break.
Fancy a tennis match? Two tennis courts are ready for your best serves. There's also a sandy volleyball court that's fantastic for casual games with friends or impromptu neighborhood tournaments.
Chill-Out Spaces
Sometimes you just need to spread out a blanket and relax. Apache Park has plenty of grassy areas where you can toss a frisbee, set up a picnic, or simply lie back and watch the clouds drift by.
You'll come across picnic tables scattered within the grounds, with three ramadas providing much-needed shade from the Arizona sun. Planning to make a day of it? The BBQ grills let you cook up lunch or dinner right there in the park.
Amenities and Facilities
When nature calls, you can find clean restrooms conveniently located near all the park's features. They do the job, but the lighting could be better and maintenance can be hit or miss depending on when you visit.
There's a drinking fountain available - just know that on hot days, the water tends to run warm (bringing your own water bottle isn't a bad idea). And yes, you can bring your four-legged friend along, as the park is dog-friendly. Just remember to pick up after them, as the signs politely remind you.

Getting to and around Apache Park is hassle-free. There's plenty of parking, with the lot situated at a safe distance from where children play.
The park is designed to be wheelchair-accessible with appropriate entrances and pathways, making it a welcoming space for everyone in the community.
Overall, the City of Peoria's Parks and Recreation Department does a good job keeping the place clean and well-maintained. Since it's adjacent to a K-8 school, you might want to avoid the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up rushes when things get hectic. Outside those times, though, you'll find a peaceful, family-friendly spot that feels like a little escape from the everyday.
