Paloma Community Park
About Paloma Community Park
A Modern Oasis for Everyone
Found in Peoria, Paloma Community Park stretches across 85 acres of thoughtfully designed outdoor space that opened its gates on October 3, 2020. As the city's third community park, it provides expansive green space north of Bell Road for families, athletes, and nature lovers.
The park's story is still unfolding - developed in two phases, with the first 85 acres already welcoming visitors while plans for an additional 35 acres are in the works. When completed, the park will span 120 acres. The journey from concept to reality began back in 2014, with construction finally breaking ground in 2018.
Something for Everyone
At the heart of Paloma sits a serene fishing lake that's part of the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Community Fishing Program. Regularly stocked with catfish and bass, the lake invites both serious anglers and casual visitors. Walking paths circle the water, offering stunning mountain views and chances to observe the resident ducks and geese going about their day.
Sports enthusiasts won't be disappointed - the park features a ball field complex with lighted baseball and softball fields that extend play into the evening hours. There are also multipurpose fields meant for soccer matches, frisbee games, or just running around. The pickleball courts are popular, attracting players of all skill levels from beginners to experienced players.
Kid-Friendly Zones
Little ones have plenty of space to burn energy at Paloma's two distinct playground areas. The main playground offers equipment that older kids will love, while a separate smaller play area caters specifically to toddlers and younger children who need age-appropriate options.
When Arizona's famous heat kicks in, the splash pad becomes the place to be. This refreshing water play area offers sweet relief during those hot desert days. Both the playgrounds and splash pad have shade structures, making outdoor play more comfortable during hot days.
The park designers clearly thought about everyone's needs - the playground equipment accommodates children of different abilities, including those with special needs. You'll even find communication boards to help children who have difficulty expressing themselves verbally.
Places to Gather
Planning a family reunion or birthday celebration? The park offers numerous ramadas equipped with picnic tables, grills, and in some cases, sinks for easy cleanup. These shaded retreats can be reserved for special occasions or simply claimed for an impromptu afternoon picnic.
You'll find clean restroom facilities across the park, strategically placed so you're never too far from one when needed. Family restrooms with changing tables make visits with little ones much more manageable.
For the Four-Legged Friends
Dog parents, rejoice! Paloma features three separate dog parks where your furry companions can run free. These thoughtfully divided areas ensure that dogs of different sizes have their own safe spaces to play - small pups won't get overwhelmed by their larger counterparts.
Looking Ahead
The future looks bright for Paloma Community Park with plans for even more features including a skate/rollerblade/bike court, an equestrian trailhead for horse enthusiasts, sand volleyball courts, additional sport courts, a dedicated drone zone for aerial hobbyists, and connections to nearby hiking trails.
With 712 parking spaces available, there's room for everyone who wants to visit. The park welcomes guests daily from 6AM to 10:30PM, offering a generous window to enjoy all it has to offer.
