About the Location

A Green Escape in Phoenix

Positioned in the urban sprawl of Phoenix, Coyote Basin Park spreads across 21.6 acres of refreshing green space. It's one of those places where you can take a deep breath and forget you're still in the city - a little pocket of calm amid the desert metropolis.

What makes this park special is its wide-open layout. There's something wonderfully simple about having room to just... be. The expansive fields provide plenty of space to fly a kite, launch a model rocket, or play with remote-controlled aircraft (yes, these activities are actually approved here!).

Kid-Friendly Fun & Adult Perks

Got kids with energy to burn? The park features a playground area with equipment tailored to different age groups. Younger children have their own structures separate from the big kid equipment, making it easier for parents to keep an eye on everyone. There's also an accessible swing for children with disabilities - making the playground more inclusive.

While the kids play, adults can get in a quick workout at the outdoor exercise equipment stations nearby. This allows for multitasking - you can supervise the little ones while getting some exercise.

What You'll Find Here

Surrounding the main field, paved walking paths offer a smooth surface for everything from casual strolls to morning jogs. The paths are maintained and suitable for walking, running, or cycling around the perimeter.

The open grassy field is really the heart of Coyote Basin. It's where impromptu soccer games break out, where friends toss footballs, and where families spread blankets for afternoon picnics. Fair warning: the grass might look a bit brown during winter as it's not overseeded, but it still provides plenty of space for all your outdoor activities year-round.

Picnic Possibilities

Scattered around the park are several picnic tables - some situated under the branches of Palo Verde trees that provide shade during the hot Phoenix summers. If you're planning a cookout, there are a few grilling stations available for your burgers and hot dogs.

Note that there are no restroom facilities here, which is definitely something to keep in mind if you're planning to spend several hours at the park. There are drinking fountains with cold water available, which is helpful during hot Arizona days.

For the Dog Parents

This is definitely a dog-friendly space, with plenty of room to walk your leashed companions. You'll find dog waste stations with bags provided, however it seems not everyone gets the memo about picking up after their pets (you know who you are!).

Coyote Basin Park offers simplicity and space rather than elaborate amenities. It provides room to breathe, move, and connect with nature while still being within the city.
