About the Location
A Vast Outdoor Haven
Tucked into the Phoenix landscape, Pecos Park stretches across 66 acres of recreational bliss. This spacious community park offers plenty of room for locals and visitors seeking outdoor activities. What adds to the peace of mind here? A police substation right on the grounds and regular park ranger patrols keeping an eye on things.
Fields for Every Sport Imaginable
Sports enthusiasts will find illuminated soccer fields and football fields that are well-used during evenings. These multipurpose athletic spaces regularly host everything from soccer matches to rugby games and lacrosse tournaments. If conventional sports aren't your thing, head over to the skate plaza where you can practice your kickflips and ollies to your heart's content.
Courts Galore
The athletic offerings don't stop at fields. Pecos Park features basketball courts, tennis courts, and volleyball courts in both sand and concrete varieties. A notable feature is the set of 16 dedicated pickleball courts - reflecting the growing popularity of this paddle sport. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there's a 0.9-mile paved walking path that winds through the park, meant for your morning jog or an evening stroll.
Four-Legged Friends Welcome
Your furry companions haven't been forgotten. The PETsMART Dog Park features separate areas where large and small dogs can run free without getting in each other's way. If you're looking to teach your pup some new tricks, check out the dog agility training programs offered on-site. Meanwhile, the little humans in your life will love the recently renovated playground complete with swings and climbing structures. During Arizona's scorching summer months, the splash pad (operational from late May through October 1st) provides a welcome cool-down spot for kids.
Picnic Paradise
The numerous covered ramadas equipped with grills are available for family gatherings or birthday celebrations. These shaded areas provide protection from the sun while you eat. Beyond the designated picnic areas, there are plenty of open grassy spaces good for spreading out a blanket or tossing a frisbee.
Community Center and Pool
The Pecos Swimming Pool is available when temperatures rise, and the Pecos Community Center is nearby. This 45,000 square foot facility contains a full-size gymnasium, dance room, game room, classrooms, and multi-purpose spaces. The center also includes a senior center, with activities for different age groups. Throughout the year, various classes and programs are offered.
Good to Know
You'll come across restrooms conveniently located on both the east and west sides of the park, as well as inside the community center. While there's generally good parking available, keep in mind there's only one entrance/exit to the facility. This can create a bit of a bottleneck during popular events, so you might want to arrive early when the park is hosting large gatherings.
