About the Location
Your Neighborhood Escape
Situated on N 7th Ave in Phoenix, Werner's Field Park is that breath of fresh air you're looking for in the midst of city life. This laid-back neighborhood spot offers a peaceful retreat where you can reconnect with nature without venturing far from home.
With its tranquil vibe, this park has become something of a local favorite - a place where families spread out picnic blankets, kids let loose on the playground, and dog owners stroll with their four-legged friends in tow.
Get Your Recreation On
The park has several spacious grassy areas that work well for whatever outdoor activity strikes your fancy. Toss a frisbee, kick a soccer ball around, or just sprawl out with a good book. And if you're into drones, you're in luck - this is one of the few parks in the Phoenix area where you can actually fly them!
Fancy shooting some hoops? The well-maintained basketball court is ready and waiting for your next pickup game or solo practice session.
Kid-Friendly Fun
Little ones will make a beeline for the recently updated playground that's packed with all the childhood essentials - swooping slides, swinging swings, and a jungle gym complete with a bridge for those imaginative adventures.
Occasionally you might find a slide or two temporarily closed, but there's always plenty to keep the kiddos entertained regardless of their age.
Picnic Perfect
Escape the Arizona heat under one of the park's covered ramadas. These shaded spots are prime real estate on sunny days, with about two picnic tables tucked beneath the shelter. Additional tables are scattered across the grounds for more impromptu gatherings.
Just note that you'll need to leave your grilling ambitions at home - there aren't any grills available here.
Hidden Pathways
A nice feature is the desert trail winding along the wash at the back of the grounds. This quiet pathway is excellent for a leisurely stroll or walking your dog while taking in some native desert scenery.
The trail offers options too - head left toward Union Hills for a longer journey, or take a right for a quick loop that brings you right back to the park in no time.
Good to Know
Dog lovers, rejoice! Your leashed companions are welcome throughout the park, with plenty of open spaces for them to explore (though there's no designated dog park area).
You should know there aren't any restroom facilities, so plan your visit accordingly. A convenient parking lot means you won't have to circle the block looking for a spot before enjoying all this local park has to offer.
