About Eldorado Park

A Sprawling Urban Oasis

Nestled between Oak and McDowell roads in Scottsdale, Arizona, Eldorado Park spreads across 60 acres of refreshing green space. The park is split into northern and southern sections, each with its own character and offerings. With its serene lakes, winding walking paths, and surprising amount of wildlife, it's like finding a piece of nature right in the middle of the city bustle.

Community Facilities

Head to the northern part of the park and you'll discover the Eldorado Community Center, Boys & Girls Club, and the Fitness & Aquatic Center. Fishing enthusiasts can spend a peaceful morning at the boat dock and fishing lake, trying their luck with the local aquatic residents.

The aquatic facilities are well-equipped. The Eldorado Pool stays heated during those "chilly" Arizona winter months and offers 13 short-course lap lanes for serious swimmers. Kids (and let's be honest, adults too) love the diving boards and water slides - both covered and uncovered. There's even a separate kids' pool area with its own playground for the little ones.

Playgrounds for All Ages

You'll find two distinct playgrounds scattered across the park. The north playground welcomes children of all ages with the classics - slides, climbing structures, swings - plus a cool rock step wall for the more adventurous climbers.

If you're hanging out near the sports fields, check out the south playground, which thoughtfully separates areas for older and younger children. Beyond the standard playground equipment, there's even a rideable dinosaur structure that's always a hit. Both playgrounds offer much-needed shade from that famous Arizona sunshine.

Sports and Recreation

For those who enjoy sports and active recreation, The park is equipped with three lighted baseball fields, a soccer/football field, and sand volleyball courts that feature spray poles when you need to cool down.

Basketball more your thing? Take your pick between indoor and outdoor courts. For something a bit different, try your hand at the 18-hole disc golf course that runs the entire length of the park - a perfect way to spend a morning or afternoon outdoors.

Connectivity and Specialty Features

Running right through the park is the Scottsdale Greenbelt, a multi-use path that's perfect whether you're cycling, jogging, or just taking a leisurely stroll. This isn't just any path - it connects Eldorado Park to other parts of Scottsdale and extends all the way to Tempe Town Lake, making it a key piece of the city's green network.

In the southern section, you'll discover the Wedge Skate Park, a massive 20,000 square-foot facility that welcomes skateboarders of all skill levels. It's got some history too - it's one of the oldest skateparks in the Phoenix area and has been a community favorite for years.

Gathering Spaces and Wildlife

Across the park, you'll come across plenty of shaded ramadas and picnic tables for when you need a break. There's even an area dubbed "picnic island" that's fantastic for larger gatherings. Many ramadas come equipped with BBQ grills and are positioned to give you great views of the park's natural beauty.

The lakes and waterways aren't just pretty to look at - they attract a surprising variety of wildlife. Grab your binoculars or camera because the duck-watching can be unexpectedly entertaining, and you might spot other aquatic birds going about their day.

Events and Amenities

All year long, the park hosts community events, including a Fall Festival in October with Halloween activities that locals look forward to. Planning your own gathering? The spaces are available for private events, with reservable rooms and ramadas to accommodate groups of various sizes.

The practical stuff is covered too - clean restrooms, plenty of parking, and pet waste stations throughout for those walking their four-legged friends. Speaking of which, the park is dog-friendly, so you'll often see people getting their steps in with their canine companions.

Eldorado Park is open from dawn until dusk, providing a spacious recreational area for both Scottsdale residents and visitors.
