About the Location

Location and History

Situated in the heart of Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona, you'll discover the charming 8-acre Scottsdale Rotary Park. This park was built by members of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale before being donated to the City of Scottsdale.

Situated about a mile south of Shea Boulevard and a mile east of Scottsdale Road, this peaceful retreat offers a welcome escape from the desert bustle for both locals and visitors seeking a bit of nature and recreation.

Unique Features

A notable feature is the world's first plaza designed in the shape of the Rotary symbol - a cool bit of trivia to share with friends. Back in 2002, the Rotary Club added the Unity Plaza and Spirit of Unity Flagpole to celebrate Rotary International's centennial in 2005.

Across the park, you'll discover several ramadas providing much-appreciated shade from the Arizona sun - perfect spots to gather with family or friends. And yes, there's plenty of parking available, so no worries there.

Natural Attractions

The landscape features expansive grassy areas and mature trees, creating a serene atmosphere that contrasts with the desert surroundings. Nature lovers will appreciate the butterfly garden added in April 2019, which brings an extra touch of color and life to the park.

A paved walking path winds its way around the perimeter, making for a pleasant morning walk or jog. The grounds are well-maintained and clean year-round.

Recreational Facilities

Kids will love the well-designed playground with equipment for various age groups, including different types of swings. The play area does have an age restriction to keep things appropriate and safe for the little ones.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the basketball and volleyball courts, while the open grassy areas provide plenty of space for impromptu games of frisbee or catch. Dog owners take note - your furry friends are welcome to run and play here, making it a popular spot for pups and their people.

Amenities

Practical amenities include clean restroom facilities conveniently located near the playground. Picnic tables scattered throughout make it easy to enjoy an outdoor meal, while grilling areas let you cook up something tasty on-site.

Heading over for a party or gathering? The park operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's best to arrive early to claim your spot. No reservations needed, but no guarantees either!

The park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 10:30PM, offering a quiet, family-friendly space where the community can connect with nature and each other.
