About Heritage Park
Made for Little Ones
Just west of Marley Park Elementary School in Surprise, Heritage Park is a calm neighborhood park with young families in mind. It shares a parking lot with the school, which is handy if you're doing a drop-off or pickup anyway, and the easy-to-navigate layout makes it simple to keep an eye on small children. It's the kind of place where you can actually exhale for a bit.
At the front of the park is a small playground geared toward toddlers and preschoolers - it comfortably fits around three to five kids at a time - and both swings are bucket-style, so even babies can join in.
A Shaded Splash Pad
Right next to the playground is the splash pad, fully shaded and gated - something you'll appreciate during an Arizona summer. It's open seasonally from April 1 through October 31, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. It's on the smaller side compared to other splash pads in Surprise, and some of the jets reach nearby seating and parts of the playground, so choose your spot if you'd rather stay dry. Seating is limited to a narrow ledge, so bringing your own chair is a smart move.
Through the Brick Tunnel
The park's most distinctive feature is a red brick tunnel connecting the front section to the western side. The soft, filtered light inside has made it a popular spot for photos, and the green belt around it adds to the appeal. On the other side you'll find a citrus grove, a spacious pavilion and more parking - the park turns out to be bigger than it looks from the entrance.
Fields, Ramadas and Paths
Behind the playground are clean restrooms and two full-size baseball/softball fields. Five ramadas can be rented through the City of Surprise, which makes the park a practical choice for birthday parties and small gatherings - it has even hosted weddings.

Wide walking paths and looping sidewalks circle the park, good for stroller walks or kids on scooters and bikes, and there's open grass for a casual game of soccer. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. With its small playground, it suits nearby residents and families with very young kids better than anyone looking for bigger play facilities.
