Estrada Park
About Estrada Park
Park History
Located in south Tempe, Arizona, Estrada Park spans a welcoming 8 acres. It bears the name of Pete Estrada, a local pioneer born in 1891 who wore many hats serving the community throughout his life.
A few years back, the park underwent renovations that brought its facilities into the modern era while preserving its essence as a cherished neighborhood haven.
Recreational Facilities
This park offers a variety of recreational options. The playground area features distinctive, contemporary equipment in a secure environment for children to play.
The playground includes climbing areas, swingsets, and various jungle gyms set atop soft turf that helps cushion falls. Parents can breathe easy knowing they can spot their little ones from any of the seating areas.
Sports enthusiasts haven't been forgotten - a full-sized basketball court awaits pickup games, while the soccer field regularly hosts everything from casual kickarounds to organized practices.
Fitness and Leisure
If you're looking to break a sweat, you'll appreciate the exercise circuit with parcourse fitness stations dotted around the park's perimeter - excellent for mixing up your outdoor workout routine.
A pleasant walking trail loops around the entire park, ideal for a morning jog or evening stroll. There's also plenty of open green space that's excellent for spreading out a blanket, tossing a frisbee, or simply lounging with a good book.
When the sun sets, you don't have to head home - the park's lighting system keeps the space usable well into the evening, making it a go-to spot for night activities.
Amenities
Planning to spend the day? You'll discover picnic tables and grills that make Estrada Park ideal for everything from family lunches to neighborhood cookouts. Some tables even feature built-in chess boards - just bring your pieces and challenge a friend.
Four-legged friends are welcome here, and waste bag stations are available around the grounds. While there's no designated dog park area, most pet owners do a great job of keeping things respectful.
One thing to note: the park doesn't have public restrooms, so plan accordingly.
Community Events
Estrada Park serves the community through various events. It's home to the annual G.A.I.N. night celebration (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods), thoughtfully organized by the Estate La Colina neighborhood association - an excellent example of how this space brings people together.
