Park Overview
Gulley Park is a 27-acre public park located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Situated between Township Street and Old Wire Road, it has become one of Fayetteville's most utilized recreational spaces since its establishment.
The park features several natural elements, including trees, Niokaska Creek, open fields, and a pond, providing visitors with a serene environment to enjoy outdoor activities.
History
The land for Gulley Park was purchased from the Fred Gulley family in 1988.
In late 2014, the City of Fayetteville expanded the park by acquiring an additional ten-acre parcel on its north side.
Trails and Amenities
A key feature of Gulley Park is its paved and lighted 1.5-mile trail that circles the park, offering visitors a convenient path for walking, jogging, or biking.
The trail is part of the park's multi-use design, catering to various recreational needs.
Recent Improvements
In recent years, Gulley Park has undergone significant improvements. A master plan was developed with extensive input from city residents, outlining enhancements such as an improved lake, a dog park, trail improvements, a performance space, an art garden, and enhancement of the existing Niokaska Creek corridor.
In 2024, a new playground area was opened, featuring play equipment, shade structures, a pavilion, a ping pong table, restrooms, and picnic areas.
Additionally, an interactive fountain with 40 jets was installed, providing a splash pad for visitors to enjoy during warmer months.
Community Events
The park hosts popular community events, including the Gulley Park Summer Concerts. These free outdoor concerts feature family-friendly local and regional talent, attracting hundreds of residents and visitors who gather with blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the performances.
Gulley Park serves as a hub for community activities and provides a space for residents to connect with nature within the urban environment of Fayetteville.
