About the Location

Park Overview

Rio Vista Park is a 12.8-acre green space located in Anaheim, California. Opened in 1973, the park is situated adjacent to Rio Vista Elementary School, providing a convenient recreational area for both students and local residents.

The park's location between two busy freeways, the Orange (57) Freeway to the west and the Riverside (91) Freeway to the north, makes it an important green space and open area for the surrounding community. Many residents, particularly those living in the neighboring Rio Vista Mobile Estates mobile home park or nearby apartments, rely on Rio Vista Park as their primary outdoor recreational space.

2022 Renovations

The park underwent renovations in 2022, which included the installation of new playground equipment. The updated play area features a zip line, swing set with bucket seats and a companion swing, slides, and a climbing wall.

Additional elements such as a merry-go-round spinner, seesaw, play panel, and rocking climb were also added to enhance the children's play experience.

Park Amenities

Rio Vista Park offers a range of facilities for various activities. It includes open grass areas suitable for casual sports and picnics, as well as designated areas for more organized sports such as softball, football, and soccer.

The park also features a basketball court, providing additional options for athletic pursuits. For families and groups looking to spend time outdoors, the park provides picnic tables and barbecue facilities. Restroom facilities are available on-site for visitor convenience.

Future Improvements

In 2024, plans were announced for further improvements to the park, including the replacement of the existing restroom building with a new 949 square foot facility.

The project also includes the addition of a 687 square foot colorful shade structure, replacement of existing hardscape and landscape, and installation of new amenities such as a drinking fountain, picnic tables, and litter receptacles.
