The park features two distinct play zones designed for different age groups: a tot lot for 2-5 year olds and a separate playground for children aged 5-12.

Open Space

Beyond the play structures, a large, flat grassy area opens up possibilities. This versatile open space is ideal for impromptu games of tag, spreading out a picnic blanket, or simply lying back and cloud-watching.

The grass area has also become something of an unofficial dog park, with many locals bringing their four-legged friends here for some exercise and socialization.

The park features a picnic table that's useful for outdoor meals or snack breaks. Just note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly.

Park History

This little park has deeper roots than you might expect. The land was purchased back in 1974 using Measure Y funds - a voter-approved bond measure specifically for developing parks.

George Florence Park officially opened its gates on April 14, 1979, and has evolved over the years through several renovations. It got a refresh in the early 1990s and another more recent update that has longtime visitors nodding in appreciation at how the park has managed to improve while maintaining its neighborhood charm.
