History and Origins
Norman Park is a 1.5-acre community park in Chula Vista, California. The park is named after Chet Norman, who served as the city's first park supervisor.
Originally the site of the Chula Vista Library, Norman Park was established in 1963 when the Norman Park Center for Senior Citizens was built. Today, the park continues to serve as a hub for senior activities and community gatherings through the Norman Park Senior Center located on the grounds.
Park Features
The park features open green spaces and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. In recent years, Norman Park has undergone renovations to improve and expand its facilities.
New amenities added include an outdoor fitness area with low-impact exercise equipment suitable for seniors and those with limited mobility.
Recreational Opportunities
Pickleball courts were installed at Norman Park in 2023, providing recreational opportunities for both seniors and the general public.
The courts are open for senior use on weekday mornings and available to all ages in the afternoons and on Saturdays.
