Ellis Lake Park is a 10-acre urban oasis located in Concord, California, south of Clayton Road and east of Ellis Street. The park's centerpiece is a serene lake that serves as a habitat for various waterfowl species, turtles, and even a river otter.
The park features rolling turf areas and a paved path that winds around the lake, providing visitors with opportunities for leisurely walks, jogging, or cycling. This path is particularly popular among local residents for exercise and enjoying the natural surroundings.
Historical Elements
Ellis Lake Park is not only a recreational space but also holds historical significance. The park is home to the Keller House, a historic structure built in 1902.
This house, once part of a large ranch owned by the Keller family in the late 1800s, now serves as a gathering place for community agencies.
Family Amenities
For families with children, Ellis Lake Park offers playground facilities. There are two fenced-in play sets, providing a safe environment for young visitors to enjoy outdoor activities.
Additionally, a new children's play area is being constructed on the northeast side of the park, further enhancing its family-friendly amenities.
Park Guidelines
Ellis Lake Park is open from 7AM to 7PM Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, and is closed on Tuesdays.
Visitors should be aware that while the park is a haven for wildlife, hunting, molesting, harming, or feeding the animals is prohibited, ensuring the preservation of the natural ecosystem.
Dogs must be leashed at all times with a leash not exceeding ten feet in length. The park also prohibits swimming, bathing, or wading except in designated areas and times.
