Meadow Homes Park
About Meadow Homes Park
Park Overview
Tucked between Sunshine Drive and Detroit Avenue in Concord, California, Meadow Homes Park spreads across 12 acres right next to Meadow Homes School. This green space is particularly popular when the temperature rises. Fair warning: on those perfect sunny days, this family spot can get pretty packed, so you might want to arrive early to snag a decent parking spot.
Recent Improvements
In 2017, the park was renovated after four years of community campaigning and a $1.1 million investment. The upgrades brought new play structures and a spray park that's now the park's main attraction. We appreciate how the water area is designed with separate zones for tots, tweens, and teens, giving everyone their own space to splash around.
Recreational Facilities
Beyond the water features, you'll come across multi-use sports fields great for impromptu games and a gravel track that welcomes exercise enthusiasts whether you're training for a marathon or just enjoying a leisurely stroll. Kids gravitate toward the playground with its engaging equipment that keeps them entertained for hours. If you're planning a get-together, there are two reservable group picnic areas complete with barbecue setups.
Picnic Areas
You have options when it comes to picnicking here. One area sits inside the spray park perimeter (perfect if you're watching the kids play), while the other features a covered shade shelter - a welcome retreat on hot days. Both come equipped with barbecue facilities for cooking up a feast. Just note that shade can be limited throughout the rest of the park, so don't forget your sunscreen and maybe a hat when visiting, especially during summer months.
Spray Park Information
The spray park runs daily from noon to 6 p.m. during summer. Once school kicks back in August, the schedule shifts to 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, while keeping the longer hours on weekends until late September. It's a good water feature compared to other area parks, providing a refreshing spot for children when the California heat hits.
Amenities and Accessibility
You'll find public restrooms that are accessible, but they sometimes show their age and could use a bit of TLC. Dog owners will appreciate that the park is dog-friendly, making it a great spot for walks with your four-legged friends. The park welcomes visitors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
Evening Visits
If you're planning to stick around after the sun sets, bring a flashlight - the lighting gets pretty sparse in certain areas of the park.
