About the Location
A Sports Haven in Corona
Nestled along the 15 freeway in Corona, El Cerrito Sports Park sprawls across 26.5 acres. It's one of the larger public sports venues in the Inland Empire. This impressive facility came to life through a partnership between the County of Riverside and the City of Corona, with a cool $13.5 million investment bringing it all together.
Fields and Courts Galore
Athletes of all stripes will feel right at home here. The park features four baseball fields that accommodate everyone from tiny T-Ball players to older kids. These well-kept diamonds host various leagues year-round, including the popular Friday Night Lights flag football events when fall rolls around.
If you've ever sat through a game under the blazing California sun, you'll appreciate the thoughtful sun shades (sails) installed over the bleachers. Beyond baseball, you'll come across three soccer fields for your futbol fix, two tennis courts for racket enthusiasts, and a basketball court featuring four hoops where you can perfect that jump shot.
Kid-Friendly Zones and Picnic Spots
Little ones have plenty of room to burn energy at the double playground setup, but some of the equipment might show signs of loving use. When hunger strikes, head to one of the three separate picnic areas scattered around the park. The main group picnic area is particularly nice, featuring a large pit barbecue and plenty of tables with benches - excellent for birthday celebrations or family reunions. These shaded spots tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends.
At the Heart of Community
The park is home base for the Corona National Little League, providing youngsters with a place to develop their baseball skills and make lasting memories.
Beyond organized sports, El Cerrito brings people together all year long. September's Friday Night Lights flag football and cheer events are particularly popular, drawing families from across Corona to enjoy the community atmosphere.
Comfort and Convenience
Thoughtful design touches make spending time here more enjoyable. Look up and you'll notice the graceful shade sails throughout the park, offering welcome relief on hot days.
Despite first impressions that might suggest a smaller facility, walking the various paths reveals the full extent of the park's space. Dog owners will appreciate that their four-legged friends are welcome, with plenty of paths and open areas for walking.
When nature calls, you'll discover two sets of restrooms available, however it's worth noting they might not all be open depending on when you visit.
Getting There
No need to stress about finding a spot - parking is plentiful, with extra areas opening up during busy game days and special events to handle the overflow crowds.
