One of the park's notable features is its abundance of large shade trees, which dot the expansive lawn areas and provide comfortable spots for relaxation and picnicking. The park's layout includes several lighted sports fields, catering to various athletic activities and organized sports events.

For dog owners, Wells Park includes a significant 1.4-acre off-leash dog area. This section is thoughtfully divided into separate spaces for small and large dogs, ensuring a safe environment for canines of all sizes. The dog park also features an agility course, adding an extra element of fun and exercise for pets. The off-leash area is accessible daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.
