A Fresh Start for Greenwood

In 2016, Greenwood Park got a serious facelift thanks to a $2.38 million improvement project. This wasn't just a quick fix - it represented over a decade of planning and local residents sharing their ideas about what their community space should be.

Spread across about four acres, the renovation didn't just add new stuff; it thoughtfully preserved the mature trees that give the park its character while expanding what the space could offer to everyone who visits.

Places to Play

Whether you're looking to stay active or just hang out, Greenwood Park offers several options. Pickup basketball games happen regularly on the park's two basketball courts - there's a full court for serious players and a half court that's fantastic for a quick game of HORSE.

Skateboarders can use the dedicated skate plaza to practice tricks. The expansive playground features interactive musical instruments, a sandbox for little ones, a climbing wall, classic swings, and an old-school manual merry-go-round.

Bringing People Together

Need a spot for your next family reunion or birthday celebration? The park features two shaded group picnic structures you can reserve through the Hayward Area Recreational District (HARD). Not planning anything that fancy? No problem - there are plenty of smaller picnic spots scattered throughout the grounds for impromptu lunches.

A perimeter walking loop path circles the entire park, excellent for your morning jog or an evening stroll to clear your head. And those big grassy areas? They're just waiting for a frisbee toss, an impromptu yoga session, or simply a spot to lie back and watch the clouds.

Thoughtful Design

One of the smartest additions during the renovation was the new restroom building - because let's face it, that's important. It's regularly cleaned and maintained, which is helpful for longer visits.

The paved walkways throughout make the park accessible for everyone, from strollers to wheelchairs. Greenwood balances active areas with quieter spots, providing options for different activities.

Four-Legged Friends Welcome

Dog owners, you'll find plenty of grassy spots for your pups to stretch their legs. The park thoughtfully includes dog waste stations throughout, making it easy to be a responsible pet parent.

Good to Know

There's decent parking available, but you might need to circle around a bit during weekends or when events are happening. Tucked into a residential neighborhood, Greenwood is a well-maintained space where local families gather.

The park is open daily from 6AM to 10PM.
