Park Renovation

Greenwood Park underwent a significant upgrade in 2016 following a $2.38 million improvement project. This renovation was the culmination of over a decade of planning and community input.

Spanning approximately four acres, the park's renovation expanded its footprint and introduced new amenities while preserving existing mature trees, enhancing the overall landscape.

Recreational Facilities

The park's design incorporates both active and passive recreational areas. For sports enthusiasts, there are two basketball courts available - one full court and one half court that accommodate various skill levels.

Skateboarding aficionados can enjoy a dedicated skate plaza within the park grounds. Families with children will appreciate the large playground environment, which includes interactive elements such as musical instruments, a sandbox area, a climbing wall, swings, and a manual merry-go-round.

Community Spaces

Greenwood Park emphasizes community gathering opportunities with two shaded group picnic structures that can be reserved through the Hayward Area Recreational District (HARD), providing ideal locations for social gatherings and outdoor meals. Additional smaller picnic areas are scattered throughout the park.

A perimeter walking loop path encircles the park, offering opportunities for exercise and leisurely strolls. The park features large open grassy areas perfect for casual games or relaxation.

Amenities and Design

Accessibility and convenience were key considerations in the park's redesign. The renovation included the construction of a new restroom building to serve park visitors, which is regularly maintained and kept clean.

The park is welcoming to four-legged visitors, with plenty of grassy areas for dogs to exercise. Dog waste stations are conveniently located throughout the grounds, making it easy for pet owners to clean up after their companions.
