A Local Green Escape
Located in Hayward, Weekes Community Park spans a generous 16.6 acres of recreational space that's become a neighborhood staple. The expansive lawn areas are great for tossing a frisbee, setting up a family picnic, or just stretching out on the grass with a good book.
Places to Play
Kids can burn off energy at the playground, which, while showing its age a bit, still offers the essential slides and swings that never go out of style.
For the more sports-minded among us, the park offers several options. Shoot some hoops on the full-court basketball court, practice your serve on the tennis courts, or gather a team for a game at the baseball field. The open spaces are fantastic for impromptu soccer matches or flying a kite on a breezy day.
The Heart of Community Gatherings
The Weekes Community Center is the social hub of the park. This multi-purpose building hosts everything from art camps that local kids love to various classes that bring neighbors together during the year.
Planning a celebration? The main hall can seat up to 140 people and is available for rent - making it a practical spot for birthday parties, family reunions, or community meetings.
Picnics & Practical Stuff
What's a park without a picnic? Several areas come equipped with tables and built-in BBQ grills (just remember to bring your own foil). If you're organizing something bigger, check out the group picnic areas that can accommodate larger gatherings.
The park's central plaza and promenade offer pleasant spots to sit and chat or take a leisurely walk. Restrooms are available - they're basic and a bit dated, but they do the job when nature calls.
Four-Legged Friends Welcome
Many locals bring their dogs to this unofficial meetup spot for daily exercise. Dog waste stations are conveniently placed throughout, making cleanup easy and helping keep the grounds fresh for everyone.
The park's shaded areas provide welcome relief on hot days for both pups and their people.
