About the Location
History and Location
Seabridge Park is a neighborhood park located in Huntington Beach, California, within the Huntington Harbour area. The park spans 3.91 acres and offers a serene waterfront setting with views of the surrounding harbor and residential areas.
Named after Roy Seabridge, who served as mayor of Huntington Beach from 1948 to 1956, the park was dedicated on March 27, 1982, following its development on October 30, 1981.
Park Features
Situated at the end of Countess Drive, Seabridge Park provides a tranquil escape for locals and visitors alike. The park features lush green lawns and is nestled between the Seabridge and Portofino gated waterfront communities.
Its location offers scenic views of nearby estates and Eugene B. French Park on Trinidad Island. The park includes numerous shady areas thanks to large trees throughout the grounds, making it comfortable even on warm days.
Beach Area
One of the park's most popular features is its small beach area with calm waters, ideal for families with young children. The beach is protected from waves, making it a safe environment for toddlers and inexperienced swimmers.
A lifeguard is typically on duty during busy periods, and the swimming area is roped off to separate it from the boat traffic in the harbor. The water access point is also popular for launching kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
Playground
The park features a pirate-themed playground that delights children of all ages. The playground includes swings (both regular and toddler varieties), climbing structures, and interactive elements that fit with the nautical theme.
The playground's design includes features like a gangplank and rope elements, offering unique play experiences not commonly found at other parks. It's primarily designed for children ages 5-12, though younger children can enjoy it with supervision.
Recreational Opportunities
Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at Seabridge Park. The wooden plank boardwalks allow for pleasant strolls along the waterfront, while the grassy areas are perfect for ball games and other outdoor activities.
The park is also a popular spot for birding, with various waterbirds frequently visible in and around the harbor. Fishing spots are available nearby for those interested in casting a line.
Amenities
Seabridge Park offers several amenities for visitors' convenience. There are picnic tables scattered throughout the park, providing places to enjoy meals while taking in the scenery.
The park includes restroom facilities with outdoor showers for rinsing off sand after beach activities. Water fountains are also available, though visitors should note that facilities may occasionally experience maintenance issues during peak seasons.
Visitor Information
Accessibility and convenience are key aspects of Seabridge Park. It includes a paved parking lot with free parking for visitors, though spaces can fill quickly during summer weekends and holidays.
The park is open daily from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm to ensure community safety and peace. Weekdays tend to be quieter, while weekends often bring more visitors, especially during the summer months.
Special Considerations
As a popular neighborhood destination, Seabridge Park can become quite crowded during peak times. Visitors are encouraged to help maintain the park's cleanliness by properly disposing of trash.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach area, though they may be walked in other sections of the park. The park is particularly known for its family-friendly atmosphere and is an excellent location for viewing the Huntington Harbour Christmas boat parade.
