Historical Significance
The park was dedicated on June 3, 1983, to Norman L. Worthy, who is considered the father of the Huntington Beach park system. Worthy, a native of Huntington Beach and graduate of Huntington Beach High School in 1942, was responsible for acquiring 626 acres of parkland and developing 57 park sites throughout the city.
Recreational Amenities
Worthy Park offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The park features both open play areas and designated sports facilities, catering to diverse interests and activities.
The baseball/softball fields are well-maintained and host weekend games and tournaments. These fields are popular among local teams and provide an excellent venue for baseball enthusiasts.
The park also boasts four pickleball courts with clean lines and straight netting. Weekend mornings feature meet-ups where players gather for friendly matches, and lessons are sometimes offered on two of the courts while the other two remain available on a first-come, first-served basis.
