About Heritage Park
Tranquil Lake & Charming Gazebo
Heritage Park spreads across a generous 36.5 acres of public greenspace in Irvine, California, sitting at the corner of Yale and Walnut Avenues with Irvine High School directly adjacent - making it a natural gathering spot for students and families in that part of the city. The park's crown jewel is its picturesque lake, where ducks paddle lazily across the water while turtles bask in the sunshine. It's one of those spots where you can't help but slow down and take a breath.
A quaint gazebo sits near the water's edge, offering an ideal perch to sit and soak in the scenery - if you're reading a book or simply watching the world go by.
Kid-Friendly Adventure Zone
Little explorers have plenty to discover at Heritage Park's spacious, well-kept playground. The nautical-themed equipment gives kids the chance to captain their own adventures, with boat structures and climbing nets that spark imagination. Of course, the classics are here too - swings and slides that never seem to go out of style.

The playground has a longer history than its current design suggests. For decades, the park was recognized by an iconic wooden water tower slide that stood three stories tall. Built in 1975, the structure became a recognizable local landmark for generations of Irvine kids before it was eventually removed in the mid-2000s after years of use had left it in decay - giving way to the nautical-themed playground that stands today. Those who grew up in Irvine in the 1980s may also recall a tractor tire maze that once occupied part of the park, removed in the early 1990s to make room for updated play and court areas.
During the summer heat, the small splash pad becomes the coolest spot in the park. Open daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day, it's where giggles and splashes become the soundtrack of summer afternoons.
Get Moving Outdoors
Looking to stay active? The park features tennis courts, basketball courts, and pickleball courts for those competitive days. Soccer fields stretch across open areas, meant for organized games or casual kickarounds.

If you prefer a more relaxed pace, walking trails wind throughout the grounds, offering a peaceful route for your morning jog or evening stroll.
Community Connections
At the heart of the park stands the Heritage Park Community Center - a hub for local gatherings with its multipurpose room, kitchen, lounge, and craft space. It's available for community activities and can be reserved for special events when you need more space than your backyard offers.
Right next door, you'll come across the Irvine Heritage Park Library, making it easy to grab a new read before finding your perfect spot under a tree. With its blend of open spaces and recreational options, Heritage Park is a popular spot for family outings, picnics, and community get-togethers.
