Park Overview

Found in Jurupa Valley, California, Vernola Family Park is a breath of fresh air for locals and visitors alike. With expansive grassy areas and well-kept facilities, this public space offers a pleasant retreat from everyday life.

The moment you step onto the grounds, you'll notice the sweeping green spaces that practically beg for a frisbee toss or an impromptu picnic. The well-maintained grounds provide an inviting atmosphere for unwinding outdoors.

Recreation Facilities

Baseball fans will appreciate the two well-maintained baseball/softball fields where local teams regularly face off. During baseball season, you can grab reasonably priced snacks at the concession stand - excellent for when hunger strikes mid-game.

If basketball is more your speed, the park offers two half-court basketball courts for pickup games or solo practice. For those who prefer a good cardio session, a walking trail circles the entire park, giving you nearly a mile of pathway to get your steps in while enjoying the scenery.

Playground Areas

Vernola features two separate playgrounds designed with different age groups in mind. The playgrounds have safety surfaces designed to cushion falls as children climb, swing, and slide.

The playgrounds are conveniently located near shaded picnic areas, making it easy to keep an eye on children while relaxing nearby.

Picnic Facilities

When lunchtime rolls around, you'll have your pick of shaded picnic areas complete with tables - a fantastic setting for family gatherings or casual meet-ups with friends. Several BBQ grills are scattered throughout the park for outdoor cooking.

For larger celebrations, the covered gazebos provide welcome shelter from the sun and create natural gathering spaces for birthday parties or family reunions.

Landscape Features

The park's rose bushes add color and fragrance, and make nice backgrounds for photos. A generous grassy hill not only provides additional play space but also offers a lovely vantage point to take in the surrounding park.

Just a heads-up - while the grass looks lush from afar, you might encounter some uneven ground due to gopher activity. Nothing major, but something to note if you're planning activities that require flat surfaces.

Amenities

Practical needs aren't forgotten at Vernola, with clean restroom facilities conveniently placed near the playground areas. There's plenty of parking available, so you won't have to circle around hunting for a spot.

Dog parents will be happy to know the park is dog-friendly, but your four-legged friends should stay leashed, and you'll need to clean up after them. The park's open design makes for pleasant dog walks along the various paths.

Accessibility Notes

If you have mobility challenges, you should be aware that ramp access is limited in certain areas, particularly when trying to get from the bathroom area down to the softball fields. The park could also use more handicap parking spaces - something to keep in mind when planning your visit.

Also worth noting is that some areas have limited lighting in the evening, especially around the playground and picnic areas, so daytime visits might be preferable.

Future Development

The Sky View Event Center is currently under development at the park and will expand what Vernola offers to visitors.

Once completed, you'll come across a 300+ person multi-purpose room, catering kitchen, restrooms, four recreation classrooms/meeting rooms, and two full-size indoor basketball courts that can also be used for volleyball. It's shaping up to be quite the community hub!

Ongoing Improvements

The initial phase of the Sky View Event Center focuses on the multi-purpose area, kitchen, and restroom facilities - essential spaces that will serve diverse community needs.

Addressing current parking challenges, the development plan includes adding over 300 parking spots, which will make accessing the park's many amenities much more convenient for everyone.
