About Alamitos Park
Where Land Meets Sea
Located at the southern tip of Long Beach's peninsula, Alamitos Park is a small coastal space where you can step away from the urban environment. At just 0.3 acres, this little green space at 72nd Place and Ocean Boulevard offers nice views overlooking the entrance to Alamitos Bay. It's the kind of spot where you can spend hours simply watching boats glide in and out of the bay - especially when the sails unfurl during Wet Wednesday Sailboat Racing.
A Bit of History
The park officially joined Long Beach's green spaces in 1981 as part of the Local Coastal Program, but its landscaping likely dates back to the mid-1960s, around the same time the neighboring Alamitos Bay Yacht Club was built.
ADPrivate Helicopter Tour of Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, and Long Beach
Soar around the Rancho Palos Verdes Peninsula, LA beaches and the Port of Long Beach. Fly in style as you take in coastal views of cliffs, caves, and waves along the Palos Verdes, Long Beach, and Los Angeles coastlines.
Small Park, Solid Amenities
Don't let the compact size fool you - Alamitos Park offers several picnic tables scattered across a well-kept lawn where you can enjoy a packed lunch with a side of ocean views. Need a restroom break? Clean public facilities are available just across the road, typically open until early evening.
The park flows naturally into a small beach area that's excellent for families, with a paved walkway near the water that means you don't have to kick off your shoes to enjoy the coastal vibes.
What to Do Here
If fishing is your thing, you'll be in good company. Locals frequent the jetty to cast lines for Bonita and other catches. The rocky outcrops stretching into the water double as both fishing spots and mini-adventure zones for exploring tide pools.
The peaceful atmosphere makes this spot ideal for simply being - whether that's meditation, reading, or just sitting quietly with your thoughts. Keep your camera ready for stunning sunrise and sunset shots, and your eyes peeled for marine wildlife that occasionally makes an appearance.
Part of Something Bigger
Technically, Alamitos Park falls within the boundaries of Alamitos Bay State Park, connecting it to Long Beach's broader coastal recreational network.

From this unassuming spot, you'll enjoy panoramic views stretching from Seal Beach to Long Beach and even all the way to the Queen Mary in the distance.
Open daily from 6AM to 10PM, Alamitos Park makes an ideal rest stop for cyclists, a peaceful retreat for those seeking quiet moments, or simply a place to appreciate coastal Long Beach's natural setting.
