About the Location
Park Overview
Tucked away at the corner of Lanark Street and Shelby Place in Los Angeles, you can find Lanark Shelby Park (also known by locals as Lanark/Shelby Mini Park). It's one of those pocket-sized urban retreats that brings a welcome breath of green space to the neighborhood.
The park keeps welcoming hours, opening its gates daily from 6AM to 10:30PM - perfect whether you're an early bird looking for a peaceful morning spot or need some evening outdoor time after work. As part of LA's Department of Recreation and Parks network, this little oasis is well-maintained and designed to be a safe spot for everyone in the community.
Facilities and Amenities
At the heart of the park sits a children's play area where little ones can burn off energy, make friends, and engage in some good old-fashioned outdoor fun. There are also some nice grassy patches excellent for spreading out a blanket for an impromptu picnic or just lounging with a good book on a sunny afternoon.
Recreational Opportunities
Skaters, take note! One of the park's standout features is its concrete skate park, which came to life in 2011 with funding help from The Skatepark Project. This addition has transformed Lanark Shelby into something of a local hotspot for skateboarding enthusiasts looking to practice their tricks and techniques.
