About the Location
Rich History
Situated in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, Pan Pacific Park spans a generous 28 acres between Beverly Boulevard and 3rd Street. It's a little slice of green tranquility amidst the urban sprawl, with a variety of facilities for visitors.
The land has quite a story to tell - back in 1935, the Pan-Pacific Auditorium stood proudly on this very spot. After a devastating fire claimed the iconic building in 1989, the area transformed into the community park we know today.

Landscape and Amenities
Wandering through Pan Pacific, you'll come across a pleasing mix of natural spaces and practical facilities. The grassy hills and tree-lined walkways provide a refreshing contrast to the surrounding cityscape.
If you're looking to get some steps in, a paved trail winds nearly the entire length of the park. With its ups, downs, and occasional stairs, it's perfect whether you're out for a serious jog or just enjoying a leisurely stroll.
Planning a get-together? The park offers barbecue pits and picnic tables scattered across the grounds. Just a heads-up though - these spots fill up quickly on weekends, so arriving early is your best bet if you're hoping to snag a table.
You won't need to pack extra water bottles, as the park has drinking fountains for both you and your four-legged friends.
Children's Play Areas
Kids have plenty of room to burn off energy here. The recently renovated Renée's Place playground thoughtfully caters to different age groups, with separate sections for the little ones (2-5 years) and older children (5-12 years).
Beyond Renée's Place, there are three additional playgrounds spread across the park, ensuring your kids won't run out of things to climb, slide down, or swing from.
On those particularly warm LA days, the playground's misting fountain offers a welcome reprieve from the heat.

Sports and Recreation
The athletic facilities at Pan Pacific are well-maintained and diverse. You'll come across baseball diamonds for the home-run hitters, indoor and outdoor basketball courts for pickup games, and a multi-purpose sports field that's particularly popular with soccer players.
If you're into fitness, keep an eye out for the exercise equipment positioned across the park - it's like having an open-air gym at your disposal.
The recreation center near where the old auditorium once stood offers various community programs, including summer activities for kids that local families consistently praise.
Right next to the rec center sits a public swimming pool, typically operational during summer afternoons from late June through August - excellent for cooling off when the LA heat kicks in.

Dog-Friendly Environment
Dog owners have definitely made this park their own. While technically dogs should be leashed, many areas - especially the fields near the gymnasium - have become unofficial off-leash zones, particularly on weekdays.
It's a social hub for canines to meet and play, but it's worth considering whether this relaxed leash atmosphere works for your particular pup or comfort level.
Cultural Significance
Addressing not only recreational needs, Pan Pacific Park houses the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust in its northwest corner near Beverly Boulevard, adding an important educational dimension to your visit.
The Fairfax Branch Library sits nearby, cementing the park's status as a complete community resource.
From morning joggers to families spreading out picnic blankets, fitness enthusiasts to cultural seekers, Pan Pacific Park functions as a popular green space in this bustling Los Angeles neighborhood, offering a place to step away from urban life for a while.
