About the Location
A Historic Space in the Heart of Pomona
Located in Pomona, California, Lincoln Park sits within a 45-block, 230-acre residential neighborhood known as the Lincoln Park Historic District. Since 1909, this green haven has been bringing people together, hosting everything from lazy Sunday picnics to lively community gatherings.
The district earned its spot on the National Register of Historic Places in April 2004, and it's easy to see why. With 821 structures - mostly single-family homes built between the 1890s and 1940s - the area is like walking through a living museum of American residential architecture.
Architectural Time Capsule
Take a stroll around Lincoln Park and you'll be treated to an impressive array of architectural styles. From ornate late Victorian and practical National Folk to rustic Craftsman and elegant Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival - not to mention Tudor and Classical Revival designs. It's quite a showcase of historical American architecture.
The contrast between the open green space and these historic homes creates an interesting visual landscape. The well-maintained neighborhood with its custom houses creates a picturesque backdrop that feels both timeless and welcoming.
What You'll Find Here
The park includes various amenities for visitors. Kids can burn off energy at the playground while adults relax under the shade of mature trees. There are clean restrooms with drinking fountains conveniently located outside - though you should note the women's restroom lacks doors, which might be important to know before visiting.
Planning a gathering? The picnic areas and grilling spaces accommodate various gatherings, from birthday parties to family reunions.
Natural Retreat
With abundant shade trees and open grassy areas, Lincoln Park provides a peaceful setting for whatever calm activity suits your mood - whether that's meditation, morning yoga, or just lying on a blanket watching clouds drift by.
Perhaps the most unique feature of the park is its resident peacocks that wander freely throughout the area. These majestic birds have become cherished local celebrities, with the community taking special care to protect and respect them.
Community at Its Core
Beyond its scenery, Lincoln Park is a place where community activities and local history come together. On any given day, you might see families sharing meals, joggers enjoying the scenic paths, or children climbing and sliding on the playground equipment.
The park provides a quiet setting for various activities. A meaningful addition to the park is the Harriet Tubman statue crafted by artist Manuelita Brown, which adds another layer of cultural significance to this already special place.
Dog owners will appreciate that their four-legged friends are welcome, with waste bags provided to keep the park clean for everyone. Lincoln Park continues to be both a connection to local heritage and a green space away from urban activity.
