Officially named Gilbert A. & Helen K. Duran Park, it's wonderfully connected to a nearby bike trail and a picturesque duck pond - convenient for enjoying nature close to the city.

The People Behind the Name

Ever wondered who gets parks named after them? The Durans were pretty extraordinary folks. Gilbert A. Duran wasn't just a Roseville City School District teacher - he later served on both the City Council and school board, really shaping the community. Perhaps most impressively, he created an antipoverty program that became so successful it spread to neighboring cities.

His wife Helen was equally remarkable, dedicating over 30 years to teaching in the Roseville City School District before serving on the school board herself. She had a particular passion for education, establishing scholarship programs that helped countless high school students pursue their dreams.
