About the Location
The Iconic Red Giant
Dominating the skyline is the impressive Cosmos - an 80-foot-tall red bronze sculpture that's pretty hard to miss. Created by artist Aris Demetrios back in 1990, this striking piece was a gift to Roseville residents from local developer Angelo Tsakopoulos.
You can actually spot this artistic landmark from Interstate 80, however many folks make the trip specifically to appreciate its unique design up close. It's definitely worth a few photos if you're into public art.
Park Spaces & Art
Around the sculpture, you can find sidewalks lined with concrete benches - perfect spots to sit and take in the view. Adding a sweet community touch are mosaic artworks created by local fifth-grade students.
The park's large trees provide welcome shade, making this a nice spot to enjoy a quick lunch or just take a breather from your day. Note that there aren't any public restrooms or drinking fountains here, so plan accordingly.
Trail Connections
One of the park's best features is that it acts as a trailhead for the Miner's Ravine bike trail. This paved path extends all the way to Sierra College Boulevard, giving cyclists, runners, and walkers miles of recreational space to enjoy.
A pretty creek flows alongside the trail, adding to the natural scenery. The path is partially shaded, making it manageable even on warmer days. Families with kids particularly appreciate the interesting features like overpasses and bridges that break up the journey.
Local Wildlife
Keep your eyes peeled for California ground squirrels that frequently dart about the park grounds. If you're patient (and a bit lucky), you might even spot river otters and other wildlife along the creek.
The natural areas beside the trails create habitats for various local creatures, adding an element of discovery for nature enthusiasts.
Getting There
This small pocket park is tucked behind a shopping center, with some fast food options nearby if you need a snack. Parking is available but limited - you'll come across spots behind the 24-hour fitness center.
The park is dog-friendly, but your four-legged friends need to stay leashed. The area is generally clean and well-maintained, but it's best visited during daylight hours for the optimal experience.
