Blair Park
About Blair Park
Location and Overview
Nestled about 5 miles north of downtown San Bernardino, California, Blair Park spreads across a generous 34 acres of land where Marshall meets Little Mountain Drive. Located in Ward 5, this large park offers locals and visitors a nice escape from city life.
Sports Facilities
The park features several baseball facilities. The park houses several baseball diamonds catering to Little League, Senior League, and softball players, complete with a concession stand for those mid-game snacks. Thanks to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, these fields recently got a serious facelift and now look pretty impressive.
Bball more your thing? There's a court that's usually open for pickup games or practice. Tennis enthusiasts can claim one of three tennis courts, while those with a penchant for racquetball can hit up the outdoor handball/racquetball court. Volleyball players haven't been forgotten either, with a dedicated space for serves and spikes.
Fitness and Recreation
For those who prefer a more casual workout, the park's walking track winds around for half a mile, doubling as an exercise fitness trail. What makes this path special are the exercise stations dotted along the way - fantastic for mixing up your cardio with some strength training.
Kids have their own touch of paradise with two playground areas to explore. If you're planning a gathering or just want to enjoy lunch outdoors, scattered picnic areas with tables await, but you might find the bench situation a bit sparse.
Hiking Opportunities
One of Blair Park's crown jewels has to be its hiking trails that climb the adjacent hill. Regardless of whether you're just starting out or consider yourself a seasoned hiker, there's a trail for you. The beginner-friendly path offers a gentle introduction, while more challenging routes will have you working up a sweat as they lead to the hilltop. The views from the summit are quite nice and worth the climb.
These trails are popular with locals, ranging from casual nature walks to more challenging inclines. Just a heads-up for summer hikers: keep an eye out for snakes who also enjoy the warm weather.
Skate Park
For skaters, The park's skateboard park packs more features than you might expect at first glance. With its bowl, stairs, and drop-ins, both newcomers and veterans of the board can find their groove. The space was created after local skaters petitioned for it, and is now popular with the skating community.
Additional Amenities
In a nod to classic outdoor games, you'll find horseshoe pits ready for some friendly competition. When nature calls, two restroom facilities are available, but they're occasionally closed or might not be in the best shape.
Dog owners will appreciate that your four-legged friends are welcome here. While there's no fenced dog park per se, the open spaces provide plenty of room for pups to stretch their legs. Overall, the park maintains a clean appearance, with the sports areas particularly well-kept.
Surrounding Nature
The park's proximity to the Shandin Hills opens up even more opportunities to connect with nature beyond the park boundaries. With its diverse facilities and wide-open spaces, it's no wonder Blair Park has become a go-to destination for locals seeking recreation, exercise, or simply a place to unwind in a community setting.
You can enjoy all this daily from 6AM to 10PM - plenty of time to make the most of everything Blair Park has to offer.
