A Slice of History

Named after Father Alfred E. Boeddeker, a cherished local pastor whose humanitarian efforts made a lasting impact on the Tenderloin neighborhood, Boeddeker Park has been serving the San Francisco community since 1985. This compact one-acre green space carries a big legacy for its size.

From Forgotten to Flourishing

In 2014, Boeddeker Park got the makeover it deserved. What was once a neglected space transformed into a vibrant community hub thanks to a collaborative effort between The Trust for Public Land, the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, and WRNS Studio.

The renovation wasn't just about aesthetics - it addressed safety concerns and created a welcoming environment for residents of this dense, low-income neighborhood.

What You'll Find There

Despite its modest size, Boeddeker packs in plenty of features for everyone. The large lawn area offers a rare patch of green where you can spread out a blanket, read a book, or simply watch the world go by.

Fitness fans can take advantage of the outdoor exercise equipment or shoot some hoops on the full-size basketball court. Kids have their own space too, with playground equipment including swings and climbing structures that often echo with laughter throughout the day.

The park's thoughtful design ensures everyone can enjoy it, with accessible walking paths and ramps throughout the space.

A True Community Center

At the heart of Boeddeker sits a community clubhouse complete with a multipurpose room, office, and restrooms. The space hosts year-round programs where neighbors can gather and connect.

Art enhances the experience here too. Scattered around the park, you'll discover public art pieces that celebrate the neighborhood's diverse cultural heritage.
