Little Hollywood Park
About Little Hollywood Park
A Neighborhood Favorite
Tucked away at the corner of Lathrop and Tocoloma Avenues in San Francisco, Little Hollywood Park is one of those sweet spots that locals treasure. This 1.3-acre green space is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, and it's surprisingly uncrowded most days - a rare find in SF!
After getting a facelift in 2015, this little park has become even more inviting with improved facilities and thoughtful landscaping. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think while enjoying a piece of nature within the city limits.
What You'll Find Here
The park is cleverly divided into two distinct sections. The lower area is where all the action happens, featuring a full-size basketball court for pickup games, a children's playground that'll keep the little ones entertained, and a grassy lawn great for sprawling out with a book or picnic blanket. There are plenty of benches scattered throughout if you just want to sit and soak in some vitamin D.
Head up to the upper section and you'll discover a grass field that's become an informal dog run where four-legged friends can stretch their legs. This area also houses picnic tables and barbecue grills - ideal for those weekend gatherings when you want to grill up something tasty with friends or family.
Note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before your visit.
Play Areas Worth Mentioning
The playground deserves special recognition for its modern equipment that appeals to kids of different ages. It's well-maintained and offers innovative play structures that even parents find interesting - no generic plastic slides here!
One charming feature that adds character to this space is a small pond area that attracts turtles and ducks. It's a simple joy to watch these creatures go about their day, and kids especially seem fascinated by these natural neighbors.
Recent Touch-Ups
2023 brought some welcome improvements to Little Hollywood Park, including freshly resurfaced basketball courts and pathways that make getting around more pleasant. The designers thoughtfully included wheelchair-friendly pathways, ensuring everyone can enjoy what this space has to offer.
Regardless of whether you're looking to shoot some hoops, let the kids burn off energy, walk your dog, or simply find a quiet spot to unwind, Little Hollywood Park offers a well-maintained, clean community space that reflects the character of San Francisco neighborhoods. It's not fancy or enormous, but it's exactly what a neighborhood park should be.
