Nestled within San Francisco's elegant neighborhoods, Terrace Green Park came to life as part of the Olmsted Brothers' vision for St. Francis Wood. Their plan? Create a space where both kids and adults could stretch their legs and enjoy some outdoor time.

True to its name, the park unfolds across multiple level lawns that create a natural terraced landscape - a simple but thoughtful design that gives the space its distinctive character.

Finding Your Way There

Found in the St. Francis Wood neighborhood, this park sits among tree-lined streets and well-kept homes. It's the kind of area where green spaces aren't just an afterthought - they're essential to the community's identity.

You'll find the park just off Terrace Drive, with Santa Clara Avenue running along one side. If you're driving over, don't worry about parking - there's plenty of street parking available along Santa Clara Avenue.

What to Expect

The playground draws families from both the immediate neighborhood and beyond. On sunny weekends, you'll likely hear the happy shrieks of children testing out the equipment.

Craving some casual outdoor activity? The generous grass field provides plenty of room to toss a football, play catch, or simply spread out a blanket and enjoy the day.

There are also tennis courts on the grounds, but these are primarily meant for St. Francis Wood residents.

Note that you'll want to bring your own water bottle and plan bathroom breaks accordingly - the park doesn't offer water fountains or public restrooms.

Behind the Scenes

Unlike many city parks, Terrace Green is actually owned and maintained by the St. Francis Homes Association. It's one of four noteworthy parks in the neighborhood that the association keeps up for residents and their guests.

A charming clubhouse stands on the property, adding a touch of architectural interest to the already picturesque setting.
